SpaceX lists first jobs tied to the Vermilion Parish spaceport

SpaceX has posted its first public job openings tied to the planned Starbase Louisiana spaceport in Vermilion Parish near Pecan Island.

As of this week, the company’s careers page lists four roles connected to the project:

  • Senior Construction Project Manager (Starship Infrastructure — Louisiana)
  • Civil Engineer, Land Development (Starbase Infrastructure — Louisiana)
  • Government Affairs Manager
  • Senior Counsel, Real Estate & Infrastructure

Local reporting from The Advocate and KPEL notes that the government affairs manager must live in or near Vermilion Parish, and the senior counsel role is based onsite at Pecan Island. The construction project manager and civil engineer roles are described as based near Starbase, Texas, until early 2027, then relocating to Louisiana.

The openings come about four weeks after the Aug. 25 announcement by Gov. Jeff Landry and SpaceX of a planned launch-and-recovery facility along the Gulf coast about 45 miles south/southwest of Lafayette. Public figures from that announcement — as reported by state and local outlets — still include roughly $100 billion in planned investment, about 3,000 direct jobs, construction expected to begin in 2027, and first launch targeted as soon as 2029. Coverage has also described about 125,000 acres and up to five launch pads; treat acreage and pad counts as reported, not as Rocket Gumbo’s claim.

Job seekers can review current listings on SpaceX’s careers page (filter Pecan Island, LA). Louisiana Economic Development also hosts project links for jobs and supplier interest at opportunitylouisiana.gov/spacex. One Acadiana maintains a local information hub at oneacadiana.com/spacex.
