The launch site is marsh. The meal is inland. Kaplan, Abbeville, Maurice, and Lafayette are where Acadiana actually feeds you — a drive north of Freshwater City and Pecan Island. Rocket Gumbo keeps a sourced list for future visitors. We are independent. We do not speak for these kitchens, Vermilion Parish, or SpaceX.

Sourced, currently operating places only. No invented restaurants, no fake ratings, no copied hours that go stale by Friday. Call ahead. If a door is locked, that is the fact.

Kaplan is a small town. We do not pad it. Maurice stays Maurice — no Lafayette restaurants slipped in to look fuller.

This is not a visitor program and not a parish dining guide. Starbase Louisiana merchandise from Rocket Gumbo is coming soon. The store is not open.

Kaplan

One solid sit-down: Suire's Grocery & Restaurant, Highway 35 at LA 335. Turtle sauce piquante, Cajun plate lunches, po-boys, pecan pie.

Landry's Boiling Pot & Catering is tourism-listed for boiled crawfish (drive-thru). Independent reviews are stale. Call ahead. Do not treat it as a confirmed sit-down.

Abbeville

Dupuy's Seafood and Steak, 108 South Main Street. Oysters on the half shell since 1869.

SHUCKS! The Louisiana Seafood House, 701 West Port Street. Oysters, stuffed shrimp, étouffée, bread pudding.

RiverFront — A Louisiana Grill, 530 Park Avenue. Steak and seafood on the Vermilion.

Richard's Seafood Patio, 1516 South Henry. Boiled crawfish, shrimp, crabs.

Stelly's Boiling Spot, 1120 Veterans Memorial. Boiled crawfish from family ponds.

Richard's Meat Market, 117 Park Avenue. Counter only: boudin and cracklins.

C.S. Steen Syrup Mill, 119 North Main. Product stop, not a restaurant — open-kettle cane syrup since 1910.

Black's Oyster Bar closed in 2016. We do not list it.

Maurice

Villager's Cafe. Overstuffed po-boys (est. 1997). Closed Saturday and Sunday, per their hours.

Pinchers Seafood Restaurant, 9511 Maurice Avenue. Local boiled seafood — not the Florida chain.

Village Deaux, 7992 Maurice Avenue. Donuts, king cakes, breakfast, coffee. This is the Maurice shop, not Carencro or New Iberia.

Rachael's Cafe Maurice, 8218 Maurice Avenue. Opened July 6, 2026 in the old Classic Cup room. Gumbo, étouffée, plate lunches.

Hebert's Specialty Meats is the original Maurice store for stuffed chicken and turkey, turducken, and boudin. Plate lunches are Broussard, not Maurice.

Lafayette

Johnson's Boucanière, 1111 Saint John Street. Family boudin and oak-smoked barbecue.

T-Coon's, 1900 West Pinhook Road. Zydeco plate lunches, gravy, gumbo. Lunch hours — confirm before you drive.

Laura's II, 1904 West University. Stuffed baked turkey wings and Creole plate lunches. Lunch-only; confirm the day of.

Social Southern Table & Bar, 3901 Johnston Street. Farm-to-table Southern.

Prejean's (original), 3480 Northeast Evangeline Thruway. Cajun gumbo, étouffée, fried seafood, live music. Lafayette address; their site says Carencro. Not the Broussard location.

Dwight's, 4800 Johnston Street. Plate lunches, Sunday barbecue, étouffée.

Dwyer's Cafe, 323 Jefferson Street. Breakfast and lunch: gumbo, jambalaya, étouffée.

Lagneaux's, 445 Ridge Road. Seafood buffet; boiled crabs and crawfish in season.
